My nightmare Landlord airs on Lifetime AND HBO internationally

Lifetime films are a right of passage for many actors. They’re an inevitable step on the journey to success in the entertainment industry. To be cast or even star in one of these flicks means you’re doing something right. Mark Ruffalo, Reece Witherspoon, Zac Efron and Hillary Swank are just a few of the A-Listers that in hindsight were just starring in Lifetime Movies. Ignacyo Matynia is now in that exalted company of those who broke through the thick sheet of ice that separates those who are “trying” and those who are “doing”. Matynia stars in the internationally distributed “My Nightmare Landlord” playing….. you guessed it, The Nightmare Landlord.

Ignacyo was cast by Scotty Mullen (Sharknado) and Director Dylan Vox (Beauty and the Beast Christmas) only days after wrapping up his first feature film since moving to Los Angeles a month prior.

Matynia stars playing Drew, the unassuming, charming landlord who’s newfound obsession for his tenant leads him into chaotic madness. Caroline Harris (Westworld), Sinead Darcy, Spencer Belko and Andre Boyer (Big Bang Theory) also join the cast, filling the film with performers that in due time, can go the distance.

The movie was filmed in 2019 without pre-sale or distribution and had been originally intended for Lifetimes subsidiary platform LMN. Due to the films appeal it had been sold to Lifetimes main network with domestic and international release, a first time win for the producing team behind it. It was released on March 7th, 2020 domestically on national television and streaming during worldwide quarantine.

Ignacyo’s performance had gone viral (no pun intended), trending on twitter, reaching the eyes of cinephiles and critics alike. Movie Magg’s Mark Gabrish Conlan reviewed Matynia’s performance stating “Matynia manages to capture the complexity of his character, genuinely attractive appealing and fun to be with. It’s clear he managed the rare double balance of being charming and evil at the same time”. Sayak Basu of TheCinemaholic hinted at Ignacyo’s success “This movie might prove to be a big break for Matynia” said Basu.

The film continued to release internationally on various platforms starting in South America, Europe and most recently Africa. HBO had also acquired the film in European territories, broadcasting on live television as well as streaming with HBO GO and HBO MAX. “I didn’t know it was airing anywhere else until I got bombarded with Skype calls, Facebook messages, and social media tags from my family” said Ignacyo. “As an immigrant who’s entire family lives in Europe, it was incredibly humbling and surreal to hear that while they had been searching for something to watch one evening they came across my movie, on HBO no less! Their reaction was priceless. I did it, I proved to them I could really do it” continued Matynia.

My Nightmare Landlord continues to air on Lifetime as ‘Shocktober’s Movie of the Month’ and can be streamed on Apple TV or purchased on Amazon Prime.
